Overview

HNTB is seeking a Senior Signal Engineer for our Chelmsford, MA, Boston, MA or Pittsburgh, PA office.

Coordinate design development and/or assist in providing technical direction to the scope of projects; provide senior-level technical expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contracts for construction. Responsible for gross revenue of $1M-$2M.

Assist project management with administrative operations. Cost control on projects and quality control within discipline. Planning, design and construction phases of projects. Completeness and accuracy of design team work.

Job Summary

  • Perform design calculations, including safe braking and power draw.

  • Cost estimates for signal material, cable, conduit.

  • Developing complex interlocking circuits.

  • Detailing of signal circuits.

  • Check calculations and drawings.

  • Write detailed technical descriptions for signal system requirements.

  • Develop estimates of engineering hours and costs for proposals.

  • Meet with customers to review technical details of the project

  • Plan design work into specific measurable packages.

  • Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments and monitor completion

  • Programming of vital and/or non-vital processors

  • Participate in factory and field testing of signal systems

Essential Responsibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 10 years of signal system design experience

  • Professional Engineering License preferred

  • Five years’ experience in leading projects
