The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a Section Manager – Geotechnical in our Kansas City, Missouri office.
Provides both technical and administrative supervision to the section so as to ensure that technical, administrative, direct labor, and schedule targets of the section are met in accordance with applicable professional standards, design control procedures, company procedures, and technical design guides. Section revenue normally does not exceed $1.5 million per year.
Coordinates activities of engineering section.
Assigns priorities and staff to jobs.
Coordinates time and budget on jobs.
Maintains client contacts to ensure client satisfaction.
Ensures quality control are maintained on project(s).
Typically manages up to 15 employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides both technical and administrative supervision to the section to ensure that technical, administrative, direct labor, and schedule targets of the section are met in accordance with applicable professional standards, design control procedures, company procedures, and technical design guides.
Coordinate project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs.
Productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.
Staff development and training.
Performance feedback of staff.
Lead and/or direct the pursuits of new work to support the growth of the Geotechnical Department.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
11 years relevant experience
2 years supervisory experience
Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering
Experience in geotechnical analysis and construction monitoring of shallow and deep foundations for bridges, settlement and slope stability analysis.
Proficienct in geotechnical design software Driven, SHAFT, LPILE, GROUP, FB Multi Pier, gINT, Studio and GRLWEAP.
Excelled technical writing and communication.
General Work Conditions
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
