Overview

HNTB, a recognized leader in rail transportation and rail systems, is seeking a Rail Signaling Engineer in our Rail Systems Group on one or more rail projects out of our Northeast Division in our NY, NY Office . This opportunity provides teamLeadership in collection and analysis of data and preparation of satisfactory designs for a wide variety of transit and railroad signal systems. Provide direction to engineering and drafting personnel in preparing design drawings. Perform design calculations, conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and preparation of design drawings and/or specifications.

Job Summary

  • Perform design calculations, including safe braking and power draw.

  • Cost estimates for signal material, cable, conduit.

  • Developing complex interlocking circuits.

  • Detailing of signal circuits.

  • Check calculations and drawings.

  • Write detailed technical descriptions for signal system requirements.

  • Develop estimates of engineering hours and costs for proposals.

  • Meet with customers to review technical details of the project

  • Plan design work into specific measurable packages.

  • Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments and monitor completion

  • Programming of vital and/or non-vital processors

  • Participate in factory and field testing of signal systems

Essential Responsibility

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 10 plus years of signal system design experience and knowledgable with Communications-Based Train Control ( CBTC ) systems

  • Professional Engineering License

  • Five years experience in managing an engineering team and leading projects
