HNTB Assistant Construction Manager in Atlanta, Georgia

What We're Looking For

HNTB's Atlanta office is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager. This person will be primarily responsible for observing contractor's work to monitor the projects compliance with contract documents and report findings. They coordinate and monitor the inspection efforts of inspection staff in their assigned areas of responsibilities on small to mid size projects to determine that Contractor's construction activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design plans, specifications and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate has between 4-7 years of experience and their PE certification.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Provides internal post-let staff (including Post-Let Project Managers and Assistant Construction Managers) oversight and direction to manage the OID DB Program. This includes providing project management, design coordination, construction management, and task order management.

  • Conducts transfer of knowledge meetings with Pre-Let PMC PM and Post-Let PMC PM to allow implementation of Post-Let Contract.

  • Facilitates Monthly project review meeting with GDOT and FHWA GA Division.

  • Facilitates Oversight of Integrated Project Management Plan (PMP) a. Support the milestone updates of the GEC portion of the integrated PMP. b. Support milestone updates of the GEC Quality Management Plan (QMP) as required.c. Support milestone updates of the GEC Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Mentoring Plan and monitor DBE Mentoring Program.

  • Prepares report on DB Team/GEC performance metrics.

  • Provides Post-Let policies and procedures for DB Program.

  • Provide staff training for DB Program.

  • Prepares and conducts briefings for the GDOT and GDOT PMC management on the stakeholder project status and progress.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • PE Certification

  • Produces as-constructed schedules.

  • Mentors and trains staff.

  • Reads and interprets contract documents.

  • Prepares Inspectors Daily Report of contractors work.

  • Responsible for maintaining as constructed drawings.

  • Performs complicated mathematical calculations.

  • Monitors contractors progress and analyzes it against progress schedule.

  • Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 4 years construction related experience

  • EIT

  • All jurisdictional certifications as required
