HNTB Rail Signaling Test Engineer in Baltimore, Maryland
What We're Looking For
The time is right to join HNTB! We are seeking a Rail Signaling Test Engineer to join our Baltimore, MD office. Take advantage of this exciting opportunity to be part of the latest communications Based Train Control System Project in the United States and the only project to combine procurement of new railcars with upgrade of the train control system. This individual will provide oversight of the Contractor during testing and commissioning activities for new solid state interlockings, Automatic Train Supervision System, and Communications Based Train Control System.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Direct and support other Commissioning Engineers/Assistant Commissioning Engineers, as required, to perform their duties, taking a lead role on certain areas as directed by the Commissioning Manager/Project Manager.
Assisting Commissioning Engineers with the testing of complex schemes and modern microprocessor based train control solutions
Assess the suitability of the solution as complete and ready for test
Undertake testing to ensure installation is in accordance with the design
Execution/Witness of Commissioning and Testing across interfaces.
Complete Test Reports as required.
Record any design or As Built Changes as a direct consequence of Commissioning Tests
Review contractor commissioning procedures to meet the contract specific requirements for each project
Liaise with, design, construction, planning and commercial teams
Evaluate or prepare operational plans and reports that relate to CBTC system operational and performance requirements.
Produce system and subsystem requirement specifications, interface specifications and test requirement documents.
Assess plans and technical documentation.
Review and comment on top level technical designs and documentation to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
Identify technical risks and mitigations
Supervises, mentors, and trains subordinate staff.
Monitors internal HNTB project controls for assigned staff.
Performs/observes on-site material testing.
Produces as-constructed schedules.
Reads and interprets complex contract documents.
Monitors contractors progress and compares with progress schedule.
Prepares reports of contractor’s work.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
8-10 years of experience Testing and Commissioning Rail Signaling Systems in a brown field environment.
Excellent Interpersonal Communications Skills
What You'll Need
Performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specification and plan preparation to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
Actively manages project scope, schedule and budget. Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.
Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.
Develops project scope and fee quotation, and assists in the preparation of proposals and contracts.
Coordinates work efforts and reviews of work performed by project team. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Oversees project staffing with departments, offices and divisions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
