HNTB Infrastructure Construction Inspector in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB! We are seeking Inspectors to support various transportation projects Baton Rouge, LA and surrounding areas.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Prepare and maintain daily work reports which will describe the work completed by the contractor on the project site on all days where construction had been completed.

  • Coordinate job site activities with the HNTB or subconsultant resident and/or field engineer. Coordinate activities with the contractor to understand construction tasks underway. Must be able to read and understand construction plans and specifications and work with contractor for compliance to these documents.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • LaDOTD certifications including Excavation/Embankment, Concrete Paving, Structural Concrete and Asphalt Paving.

  • ACI Level I certification.

  • ATSSA Traffic Control Technician and/or Traffic Control Supervisor, and Flagger.

  • Working knowledge of LaDOTD construction practices.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.

  • Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.

  • Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.

  • Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.

  • 3 years construction related experience.

  • All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

Competencies:

  • Recognizes and escalates discrepancies or conflicts within documents.

  • Interprets and understands schedules to provide feedback.

  • Operates relevant testing equipment to assigned duties.

  • Understands Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills at an advanced level.

  • Calculates complex pay quantities.

  • Identifies, documents, and escalates change conditions.

  • Collaborates by building partnerships and working cooperatively with others within HNTB and externally with the client and other agencies to meet shared objectives.

  • Effectively communicates by developing and delivering communications that convey a clear understanding of the project needs in a group setting to the project team.

  • Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions.
