HNTB Field Technical Specialist III in Bellevue, Washington

What We're Looking For

Primarily responsible for observing contractor's work to monitor the projects compliance with contract documents and report findings. Coordinates and monitors the inspection efforts of inspection staff in their assigned areas of responsibilities on small to mid size projects to determine that Contractor's construction activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design plans, specifications and contractual requirements. May provide guidance and training to inspection staff. Monitors contractor's construction progress as compared to overall project and contract schedule.

The NW CM team is searching for CM professionals to join our teams managing projects such as: City of Seattle’s Waterfront Construction, Sound Transit’s Auburn, Kent, Puyallup, and Sumner Stations Parking and Access Improvements, City of Bellevue’s West Lake Sammamish Parkway, Seattle Department of Transportation’s Madison Street BRT Project, and Microsoft’s Pedestrian Bridge connecting the west and new east campuses over SR520 and light rail.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Acts as an on-site liaison between Client, Resident Engineer, and Contractor

  • Works with contractor, RE, and client to resolve conflicts in the field

  • Monitors construction progress to assure compliance with contract requirements and schedule

  • Prepares Inspector’s Daily Reports

  • Provides verification of materials

  • Participates in the mentoring, development, and evaluation of CM staff.

  • Fosters a safety culture on the project site.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Assists in the review and modification of schedules, specifications, and drawings.

  • Assists with preparation and negotiation of Work Change Directives and Change Orders.

  • Assists with monthly contractor progress payments.

  • Assists with preparation of project correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • EIT or CMIT Preferred

  • Understanding of construction methods, including standards, equipment, processes, and safety considerations, and an ability to reads and interpret complex contract documents.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to maintain good working relationships with clients, contractors, management, and coworkers.

  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Acrobat Adobe, and with mobile devices such as tablet computers

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs/observes on-site material testing.

  • Produces as-constructed schedules.

  • Mentors and trains staff.

  • Reads and interprets contract documents.

  • Prepares Inspectors Daily Report of contractors work.

  • Responsible for maintaining as constructed drawings.

  • Performs complicated mathematical calculations.

  • Monitors contractors progress and analyzes it against progress schedule.

  • Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 4 years construction related experience

  • EIT

  • All jurisdictional certifications as required
