HNTB Resident Engineer in Bellevue, Washington

What We're Looking For

Responsible for overall field management of HNTB's contract, administration and coordination on mid to large size projects of a diverse and complex nature. Monitors activities of assigned staff for conformance with contractual requirements. Provides technical leadership for complex or unique assignments. Reviews drawings, specifications, and installation procedures for constructability. May recommend changes to design. Represents projects at meetings and conferences.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Work with design team, contractor, and client to facilitate project through construction on behalf of client/owner

  • Lead negotiations for change orders with contractor

  • Work with teams to develop change orders per contract and agency requirements

  • Track and coordinate responses to contractor submittals and responses to contractor RFIs

  • Track design issues and non conformance issues and lead discussions towards resolution of issues

  • Lead regular coordination meetings with contractor, design team, and client

  • Provide regular updates to client on construction progress and budget

  • Review material submittals and track material approvals on a database

  • Establish system for tracking materials used and materials testing

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional Engineer or Certified Construction Manager preferred

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets complex contract documents.

  • Monitors Contractor progress and compares with reviewed Progress Schedule.

  • Provides guidance and training to inspection staff. Mentors and trains staff.

  • Administers JPIs and Budget.

  • Collects data to brief Client on project issues and provides possible resolutions.

  • Reviews and drafts responses to Contractors correspondence as required.

  • Prepares Summary Inspection Report of Daily Activities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 years relevant experience
