HNTB Technical Writer in Bellevue, Washington

What We're Looking For

Responsible for working directly with technical staff to develop accurate and persuasive content for qualifications, proposals and reports. Will also perform editing, formatting and quality reviews to ensure consistency in written project communication materials.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Write content for contracts, specifications, requests for proposals, and other procurement documents.

  • Edit and format content written by others for contracts, specifications, requests for proposals, and reports, ensuring consistency in writing style and approach throughout various procurement documents, authored by different authors.

  • Interacts with clients on task assignments, reviews and updates

  • Perform document control tasks, such as setting up and maintaining file structures and file sharing sites. Ensure all produced materials are properly versioned and stored in appropriate location within SharePoint and Projectwise.

  • Gather information through research, statistical reports, and interviews with technical staff.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and producing quality deliverables.

  • Excellent writing skills, including English grammar, spelling, vocabulary, usage

  • Strong leadership and organization skills

  • Previous editing and document production experience

  • Strong verbal communication skills, with an ability to facilitate effective meetings and provide constructive feedback to technical team members

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Projectwise, SharePoint, and other communications-related software programs

  • Thorough understanding of Word, including styles, organizer, fields, objects and pictures, tables, and templates.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Previous experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance documents

  • Previous experience with contracts and contract specifications

  • Experience working with architectural, engineering, and other technical staff to prepare specifications for construction contracts.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, SharePoint, Powerpoint, Projectwise, Bluebeam and other communications-related software programs

  • Experience working with a variety of style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 2 years of Technical Writing experience
