What We're Looking For
The timing couldn’t be better! Join HNTB as a Senior Technical Advisor of Transportation for our Massachusetts office.
The ideal candidate would be located in our Boston office and will be responsible for providing technical expertise and delivering transportation and roadway engineering projects. We are looking for an engineer that is highly experienced and knowledgeable in roadway design with strength in one or more transportation disciplines such as roadways, drainage and utilities, and traffic analysis and design to work with our project teams throughout the design process. HNTB is delivering some of the most interesting and complex transportation projects in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. You will be a technical expert that can help win and deliver highway and other transportation projects for our public transportation clients, and can provide independent high-level technical review on projects. Candidates should be able to share their experience with others in a way that promotes the development of less experienced staff and improves the performance of the whole team.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Providing technical advice, mentoring, and support for HNTB management and staff.
Interact with clients regarding projects, technical matters and industry trends.
Problem solve on complex transportation assignments.
Review work of other offices and act as a technical advisor to other offices.
Provide quality control, completeness, and accuracy of engineering review for deliverables.
The Right Candidate:
Has a significant breadth and depth of technical experience in transportation engineering.
Develops concept-level design solutions for corridors, intersections, and interchanges
Has experience working across multiple disciplines such as Environmental and Structural
Has proficiency delivering projects for MassDOT and the MBTA.
Enjoys opportunities to advise and guide staff throughout the design stages, including time devoted to growing skills of less experienced staff.
Provides technical guidance as requested on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Provides direction to resolve technical issues.
Evaluates designs and analyses for completeness and fit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree in Engineering
Registered PE in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain in 6 months)
Registered PE in Rhode Island (or ability to obtain in 6 months)
Experience with Civil 3D
What You'll Need
Performs independent technical reviews, makes recommendations, and provides technical guidance as requested on complex or unusual engineering projects. Provides direction to resolve technical issues as requested.
Provides technical expertise and advice to project leadership, and mentoring/support to production staff.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
Coordinates technical aspects with client counterpart and teaming partners at local leadership level for work within and across disciplines on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Develops and advises on technical consistency within and across disciplines on processes and projects.
Ensures same standard and practices are being applied.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience
Master’s degree in Engineering and 11 year of relevant experience
PhD in Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience
