The time is right to joining HNTB! We are currently seeking a Sr. Transportation Engineer for our Chicago, Illinois office.
Provides a significant breadth and depth of technical experience in a specific discipline and/or type of project work to analyze and evaluate complex design problems efficiently and provide viable solutions within established schedule and budget. Provides technical interface with clients and coordinates technical efforts within his/her design areas. Coordinates and directs use of professional and technical staff assigned in the preparation of project documents.
Provides design solutions within budget and time schedules.
Technical interface with clients; coordinates technical effort with his/her design areas.
Leads staff in preparation of project documents.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides technical guidance and direction to engineering staff and interns
Reviews work of engineering staff
Provides QC assistance for projects not assigned
Coordinates project work with other project staff and disciplines
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
10 years relevant experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and 10 years of related roadway design and drainage experience required
PE in Illinois
Experience working on IDOT, CDOT and IL county projects
Knowledge of design codes, standards, and specifications
Proficient with civil design software, specifically Microstation, Geopak and modeling software
Proficient of Microsoft Office programs
Knowledge of CPM scheduling
General Work Conditions
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
