HNTB Senior Train Control Lead in Denver, Colorado
What We're Looking For
Responsible for direction and supervision of Train Control and Signal group. Coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for technical coaching and mentoring and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.
Reports to Western Region Rail System Practice Leader.
Professional Background:
Responsible for direction and supervision of the Train Control & Signal group providing rail project development, design and engineering services to transit and other local agencies
Leading and/or supporting the pursuit of new rail transit work to support and grow the group
Coordinating project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs
Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and maintenance of design engineering programs and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high quality service
Assigning priorities and staff to jobs
Coordinating time and budget on jobs
Client contact
Quality control
Hiring, supervising, developing, and evaluating staff, as well as establishing and approving budgets for the group
Performs signaling design review
Oversees and supervise signaling testing
Assists field personnel in handling problems encountered during signal cutovers
Assists field personnel in performing quality control pre-testing on signal systems and ensures that the design complies with company quality standards
Leads projects that have a predominance of signal and electrical content
Provides technical guidance to signal engineers to establish or interpret design criteria, AREMA standards, and client’s needs
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
B.S. or M.S. in Engineering preferred
20 years of theoretical and applied experience in advanced Rail Signaling Systems required
Registration as a licensed professional engineer is generally required
Thorough knowledge of AREMA standards
Thorough knowledge of at least one major transit signal system
Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving, decision-making skills, and critical-thinking abilities
Strong persuasive ability, technical writing and communications skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees
Compensation Range:
$138,996 - $222,033

Essential Responsibilities:
Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.
Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).
Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.
Coordinates department activities and assigns priorities and staff to projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
16 years relevant experience
4 years supervisory experience
