HNTB GIS Analyst II in Des Moines, Iowa

What We're Looking For

Are you looking for a new, exciting opportunity? Join our Des Moines, IA office and be an integral part of growing our transportation practice in Iowa and across the Midwest. We are looking for a highly creative and motivated geospatial analyst with experience working in the transportation planning and engineering sector. This position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the day to day geospatial and related technology needs of our clients. This intermediate level position provides GIS data support, including analysis support, data conversion/migration and map productions, with minimal supervision on projects. While the primary focus will be on clients within Iowa DOT, the candidate will have the opportunity to support other disciplines and work with all of our clients.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Planning or other related field of study.

  • 5 years related experience using ESRI software including Roads and Highways, SAFE/FME Server & Desktop, Geocortex Suite, and Bentley software products with DOT or other transportation agencies.

  • Active engagement in local professional and civic organizations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Develops or maintains enterprise geodatabases (Sql Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)

  • Develops ETL processes (FME or Python).

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Interacts directly with clients, both internal and external, and provides training and process knowledge to promote GIS.

  • Provides GIS technical support and promotes GIS technology to design offices.

  • Provides market research and business development consulting as needed.

  • Develops and completes a GIS project lifecycle, requirements through implementation.

  • Develops or maintains GIS applications using a combination of GIS software, web-based development tools, and/or Windows development tools.

  • Develops applications using Arcview software to enhance existing and future GIS projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Planning or other related field of study

  • 3 years related experience using ESRI, Intergraph, or Bentley software products
