HNTB Inspector III in Detroit, Michigan

What We're Looking For

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Road and bridge construction inspection on major highway projects in southeast Michigan. Lead technical inspection and construction oversight assignments on multi-year freeway and/or arterial construction projects.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong ability to read and interrupt roadway plans and contract documents.

  • FieldManager and FieldBook experience.

  • Strong understanding of MDOT Standard Specifications for Construction.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.

  • Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform complicated mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.

  • Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.

  • Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.

  • 6 years construction related experience.

  • All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements
