HNTB New Grad Engineer – January 2020 in Detroit, Michigan

What We're Looking For

Our Detroit, East Lansing, and Grand Rapids offices are seeking New Grad Engineers for January 2020 in the following areas: Roadway, ITS/Traffic, and Construction Management.

Relocation is not provided for these positions.

Engineer

  • Participate in the collection and analysis of data and preparation of satisfactory designs

  • Perform design calculations and conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct preparation of design specifications

  • Perform quantity estimates, detailing and check calculations and drawings

  • Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments

Traffic Engineer

  • Prepares project plans and specifications related to ITS elements such as fiber optic cable systems, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS)

  • Prepares project plans and specifications related to Traffic elements such as maintenance of traffic plans, pavement marking, and signing

  • Completes safety studies, signal optimizations, and capacity analyses

  • Designs communications systems between field devices and central operations centers

  • Designs highway and traffic signal systems, environmental sensors and speed detection systems

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Civil Engineering degree

  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience

  • Previous internship experience

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.

  • Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
