HNTB Survey Crew Chief in Detroit, Michigan
What We're Looking For
Responsible charge of other survey field crew members (rodman, instrument technician, senior instrument technician) in the completion of field survey assignments and projects. Works under direction of senior project personnel based on project assignments.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Supervise and coordinate staff with project engineer and manager.
Mentor and develop survey technicians
Collect field data for design and construction with modern survey equipment
Perform mathematical calculations and field checks.
Work independently to solve problem's at a high degree.
Provide construction staking for both DOT and municipal clients
perform topographical surveys, control surveys and grade surveys.
Document and record field notes.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Willingness to travel and work outdoors in all types of weather
Willingness to work OT as required
Perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing and walking for long periods of time
Experience with GPS, Total Station, Digital Level and Auto Level
Bachelor’s or associates degree in Surveying and/or Surveying Engineering
Familiar with MDOT processes and specifications.
Understand Plan Reading
Michigan PS license
CST - Certified Survey Technician
5 years of related experience
What You'll Need
Trains technicians in the use of survey equipment.
Maintains survey tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Operates survey equipment to conduct survey activities.
Accurately documents and records field data.
Reads and comprehends construction and real estate documents.
Performs courthouse and field research needed for locating property and right-of-way lines.
Other duties as assigned.
3 years of surveying experience
In lieu of education, 5 years of surveying experience
