HNTB Engineer II - Hydraulics and Hydrology in Golden Valley, Minnesota

What We're Looking For

Perform engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, modeling, design and delivery on assigned water resources engineering projects.

We are looking for an enthusiastic EIT who enjoys infrastructure, stormwater, floodplain, and stream restoration projects to grow their career in major transportation corridor programs, transportation projects, and climate resilience and river restoration projects.

What You'll Do:

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.

  • Responsible for preparation and/or modification for select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.

  • Develops project quantities and assists with development of cost estimates.

  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.

  • Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience

  • Field assessment of streams, wetlands, rivers, and estuaries and data analysis

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and numerical modeling and geomorphic analyses

  • Sediment transport assessment/modeling and scour calculation

  • Bridge hydraulics and scour

  • Floodplain impact analysis and FEMA map change requests

  • Analysis and design of stormwater and drainage facilities

  • Design of stream restoration/fish passage projects for both natural and constructed systems

  • Preparation of engineering reports, drawings, and plan sheets

  • Support of contract procurement documents

  • Works closely with other disciplines on multidiscipline programs

  • Builds effective client and stakeholder relationships by working collaboratively with client/multidiscipline team

  • Strong communication and coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master or Bachelor's degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering

  • 1-3 years relevant experience

  • EIT

  • HSPF, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SRH-2D modeling experience

  • AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or GIS software programs
