HNTB Senior Project Engineer - Bridge in Grand Rapids, Michigan
What We're Looking For
Provides coordination of project execution and control, in a given discipline area, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Responsible for gross revenue of $1-$2M.
The ideal candidate will provide a significant breadth and depth of technical experience and is fully competent to evaluate, analyze and complete complex design problems efficiently and provided viable solutions within established schedule and budget. Provides technical interface with clients and coordinates technical efforts within his/her design areas. Coordinates and directs the use of professional and technical staff assigned in the preparation of project documents. Coordinates preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the following:
Serving as a subject matter expert and design lead on a variety of bridge and structural design assignments.
Providing structural analysis and design services on highway and/or railroad bridges and other transportation related structures. Candidate must be capable of providing complete design efforts with minimal direction.
Providing oversight on structural design projects from project conceptualization through construction.
Leading the preparation of design details, plans, and drawings.
Development of project design criteria, design calculations, construction details, quantities and cost estimates.
Investigative hand and computer based analyses in support of assigned design tasks.
Preparation and checking of design drawings and/or specifications.
Review and checking of engineering work completed by others.
Providing mentorship and development of younger staff.
Providing construction phase engineering support as required.
Leveraging strong verbal and written communication skills to advance project objectives and effectively interface with clients.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's Degree in structural engineering
Michigan DOT (MDOT) Experience
Complex Bridge Design Experience
Active participation in professional organizations
What You'll Need
Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives.
Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline.
Assists with project management duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
