HNTB Structures Department Manager in Grand Rapids, Michigan
What We're Looking For
Responsible for direction and supervision of the HNTB's Structures Department in Michigan. Coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for technical coaching and mentoring and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service. Will also forge client relationships; will pursue, win and manage projects.
Department Manager - Structures
Primary Focus Will Include:
Developing and nurturing relationships with key clients in the state as part of the firm, division, and office strategic plans
Developing new business and winning structures work
Recruit and hire structures staff at all levels to deliver successfully
Supervise, develop and engage staff to achieve career objectives
Responsible for project delivery and performance of assigned structures staff, consistent with HNTB standards of performance and vision including management of project budget, quality, schedule and client satisfaction parameters
Accounting for the development and performance of sales and operational goals related to structures
Maintaining current knowledge of industry services, projects, and trends
Helping to maintain industry recognition through prominence in local, regional and national client and professional associations
Promoting HNTB's presence and image in the marketplace consistent with the strategic communications plan and corporate objectives
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree in Engineering
Experience winning and delivering structural projects
Experience with hiring and developing staff.
What You'll Need
Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.
Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).
Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.
Coordinates department activities and assigns priorities and staff to projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
16 years relevant experience
4 years supervisory experience
