What We're Looking For
Looking for qualified candidate with construction industry experience (4+ yrs) related to specialized field(s) of environmental management and erosion sediment control implementation and compliance. Other construction related experiences including inspection, documentation and recording of daily logs, project management, and materials testing is preferred.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Daily inspections of heavy-highway civil infrastructure projects
Specification and contract compliance
Communication between Contractors and Owner representatives
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level 1,
Trained in construction management of Erosion Sediment Control
Trained in INDOT Certification programs of Certified Tech and Qualified Tech
What You'll Need
Performs office management engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares meeting agendas and meeting minutes, assists in processing and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.
Assists with and monitors construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, comprehends, and checks for compliance with applicable contract documents.
Performs or observes on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc. and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
Reviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness and consistency. Regularly reviews contractor's as-built mark-ups, documents project progress using video and photos.
Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions and assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associates degree in Construction Management or related field and 4 years relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field and 2 years field construction experience.
Recognizes and escalates discrepancies or conflicts within documents.
Interprets and understands the contractor schedules to provide feedback.
Operates relevant testing equipment for assigned duties.
Understands Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software at an intermediate level.
Calculates complex pay quantities.
Identifies, documents, and escalates change conditions.
Understands document controls for the project (i.e., materials documentation of RFI, contractor payment, contractor employment records) at an intermediate level with guidance from more senior staff.
Takes action on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm with the support of more experienced staff.
Collaborates by building partnerships and working cooperatively within the department to meet shared objectives.
Communicates effectively by developing and delivering communications that convey a clear understanding of the project needs in a group setting to the project discipline team.
Drives self-development by actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels.
