HNTB Senior Project Manager - Bridge in Indianapolis, Indiana

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager - Bridge to lead and deliver projects in Indiana. HNTB is celebrating 80 years in Indiana. As one of INDOT's top design partners, we are growing our bridge team to continue delivering their program.

Responsible for the leadership and management of team in support of the project’s profitable operation. Responsible for proactively managing the projects technical budget (direct labor and expenses, including technical sub-consultants), schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, project communications and HNTB’s 4 for 4 performance: delivery of quality work, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction on every project. Responsible for gross revenue of $10M-30M.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Managing and leading bridge design teams in the delivery of multiple complex infrastructure projects using design-bid-build, technical procurement advisor and design-build delivery methods.

  • Managing project scope, schedule, budget and performance.

  • Supervising, coaching and mentoring engineering staff.

  • Developing and maintaining client relationships.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee, perform and ensure quality of structural analysis, design and detailing of highway bridges and transportation related structures and providing complete design efforts.

  • Prepare and complete discipline engineering designs that are responsive to project needs.

  • Manage and coordinate preparation of design details, plans, and drawings.

  • Lead design development and provide technical direction on the scope of projects; provide senior-level technical expertise on bridge projects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contracts for construction.

  • Manage and lead development of project design criteria, design calculations, construction details, quantities and cost estimates.

  • Supervise, develop, evaluate and assign work to bridge section staff members.

  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

  • Coordinate with clients to define work programs and budgets, provide leadership in project planning and strategy including general oversight and planning, project management, project implementation, and ensuring quality of work products.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering

  • Indiana P.E. Certification

  • 16 years of bridge design experience in civil infrastructure industry

  • 6 years project management experience delivering INDOT bridge projects

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative engineering environment

  • Experience pursuing projects, leading a team, and communicating with clients.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Actively manages project scope, schedule and budget. Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.

  • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.

  • Develops project scope and fee quotation, and assists in the preparation of proposals and contracts.

  • Provides oversight and monitoring of work to less experienced project managers. Coordinates work efforts and review work performed. Schedules and manages for integration of quality management during all phases of a project.

  • Oversees project staffing with departments, offices and divisions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • 16 years relevant experience

  • 6 years project management experience
