HNTB Inspector II in Jackson, Michigan
What We're Looking For
Candidate will start work in March if selected.
Responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple, routine activities within a given discipline/trade performed by contractor in order to monitor the project’s compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with Field Engineer. Work is generally limited to smaller, standard, less complex projects.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Inspection of work consisting of building grade for paving
Inspection of Paving operations
Inspection of Underground utilities
Recording and documenting contractor activities
Insure work is being constructed per plans
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Previous MDOT experience preferred
Ability to operate relevant testing equipment related to assigned duties
Basic computer knowledge and skills
Basic understanding of construction procedure

What You'll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
Monitors work of Contractor.
Reads and comprehends contract documents.
Keeps Inspector's Daily Report of assigned work activities.
Produces As-Constructed sketches as required.
Performs on-site material testing.
Performs measurements of completed work to date.
Performs standard mathematical calculations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
1 year construction related experience
All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements
