The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a Database Administrator III to join our IT team in Kansas City, MO. This position designs, plans, implements and supports complex and diverse initiatives. Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex issues that are assigned to the team. This position can gather and monitor appropriate metrics required for proactive sustainment of IT systems. Responsible for planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of complex IT requirements. Solid knowledge and experience in own discipline. Works independently with minimal guidance. May serve as resource to less experienced employees.
Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving advanced database issues that are assigned to the team. Also responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, maintenance, backups, deployments, and documentation of various database solutions. Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation. Serves as escalation point for and Level I and II network engineers.
Manages tickets assigned to the team.
Works on business and IT projects.
Troubleshoots advanced technical issues.
Performs database installations, configuration, tuning, and upgrades.
Creates and updates technical documentation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Solid knowledge and experience in the following areas:
MS SQL Administration
SQL Server upgrades/patching
Migrating SQL Databases
Development or System Admin experience
Ability to work with multiple technologies and tasks outside a traditional DBA role.
Additional preferred experience in the following areas:
Azure environment management
MS Lifecyle services (Dynamics 365)
Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree
4 years database operations experience
In lieu of education, 8 years database operations experience
Proficient in Microsoft SQL
Working knowledge of Oracle databases
5 years database operations experience
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert - Business Intelligence (MCSE - BI)
Knowledge of Oracle eBusiness Suite and Linux
General Work Conditions
Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
