HNTB Infrastructure Asset Management Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri

This opportunity is within HNTB’s Infrastructure Solutions Team working on the most complex Asset Management projects in the transportation industry. The asset management team is comprised of engineers, data analysts, GIS developers, and planners. This mid-level position entails being responsible for the production of analytics, technical reports, and applications for assigned projects. This position works closely with the project manager to perform innovative research, development, analytics and delivery methods using the best tools. Applies engineering and data techniques, as well as local and federal regulations to projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge, experience and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of projects. Develops conceptual and detailed analytics to support the project execution using innovative technical tools, programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

What You'll Do:

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.

  • Responsible for preparation and/or modification for select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.

  • Develops project quantities and assists with development of cost estimates.

  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.

  • Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Innovative approach to asset management applications using comprehensive engineering knowledge, project requirements and an understanding of client needs.

  • Optimizing work processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Defines and documents system requirements using quality processes and writing skills.

  • Develops conceptual and logical workflow and business process diagrams for solutions.

  • Creates and executes moderately complex system implementations according to established timeline, budget and quality expectations.

  • Leads tasks of small to medium scope. Assists in the development of project scope, fees and proposals.

  • Research various asset management related topics .

  • Solves moderately complex technical problems using innovative analytics, , tools or processes.

  • Thoroughly documents, checks, and tests all work produced.

  • Participates in quality review.

  • May recommend enhancements or changes to technology, methodology and process standards.

  • Interactively and iteratively improves both products and processes.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by senior staff, or project managers.

  • Civil Engineering or related transportation engineering background

  • Expertise in using Microsoft Suite to use tools such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel.

  • Understanding and exposure to Asset Management processes, projects and applications

  • Understanding and exposure to various databases

  • GIS analysis skills; especially in the realm of transportation

  • Familiar with scripting languages such Python, Arcade and SQL
