HNTB Assistant Team Leader - Bridge Inspector in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania

What We're Looking For

This individual is actively working to become a team leader as defined by PennDOT’s Publication 238 by either licensure or experience. Candidate will assist the team leaders and project manager in planning for future inspections. They will ensure the inspection team is prepare for field work, complete the inspection under the guidance of a team leader and then prepare the field notes and reports for review. When a load rating is required for a bridge, the candidate will prepare the rating for the team leader to review. During off-seasons from bridge inspection, candidate will assist with design tasks as assigned or creation of plans with MicroStation CADD.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Develop inspection reports, notes, load rating calculations, and estimating National Bridge Element quantities

  • Assist with field coordination between Pennsylvania offices and subcontractors

  • Record daily notes from the inspections completed

  • Communication priority maintenance items to the Project Manager

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be physically fit, have a driver’s license, not be afraid of heights and have good communication and computer skills, ability to work in adverse weather conditions, operate inspection access equipment, carry ladders, work along side highways and/or railroads.

  • Must know Word and Excel. Microstation experience preferred but not required.

  • Have completed the bridge inspection basic course (within Pennsylvania preferred)

  • Must be able to recertify every two (2) years as a Certified Bridge Inspector through PennDOT

  • Bridge inspection experience with PennDOT, PTC or DRPA

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Monitors work of Contractor.

  • Reads and comprehends contract documents.

  • Keeps Inspector's Daily Report of assigned work activities.

  • Produces As-Constructed sketches as required.

  • Performs on-site material testing.

  • Performs measurements of completed work to date.

  • Performs standard mathematical calculations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent

  • 1 year construction related experience

  • All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements
