Directs project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.
Department Manager - Rail/Transit
Responsible for direction and supervision of a professional/technical group providing rail project planning, development, design and engineering, and program and construction management services to local and national rail and transit agencies
Leading and/or supporting the pursuit of new rail and transit work to support and grow the department
Coordinating project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities and services to meet their needs
Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and maintenance of design engineering programs and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high quality service.
Provide leadership on complex multidisciplinary rail and transit planning, design, and program management assignments
Provide senior subject matter expertise and guidance for clients and department staff
Coordinate effective deployment of expert resources throughout the country for the successful delivery of services to clients and growth of the department
Assigning priorities and staff to jobs
Coordinating time and budget on jobs
Client contact and relationship development
Hiring, supervising, developing, and evaluating staff, as well as establishing and approving budgets for the group
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree in Engineering
What You'll Need
Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.
Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).
Establishes priorities and work schedules and coordinates resource needs/assignments.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or relevant degree
16 years relevant experience
4 years supervisory experience
