HNTB CAD Production Manager in Los Angeles, California

What We're Looking For

Senior Proficiency Level with emphasis in one or more areas of expertise. This advanced level may include supervisory responsibilities. Work duties may be narrowly focused or diverse. Examples of focus may include areas such as CADD management, 3D specialist, GIS Specialist, Engineering Technician Designer, and other areas of specialization. Will be knowledgeable in methods, techniques, and practices of the appropriate specialty.

Contributes to the preparation of plans and designs for projects.

Job Description

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking candidates for CAD Production Manager in our Downtown Los Angeles, CA office.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Able to manage large projects, from conceptual to final design, take responsibility for file structures, folders, naming conventions, configuration and problem solving as issues arise.

  • Able to lead the project team Cad in production and agency standard compliance, find/develop work-flows that aid in file plotting and edit efficiencies.

  • Manage the plan production of large plan sets (100 sheet count to 3000+ sheet count)

  • Research and maintain compliance with client cad standards

  • Assist Engineers across disciplines to create/check accuracy, compatibility and that standards have been meet.

  • Make design and drafting recommendations when necessary to produce to a quality product.

  • Perform standard checks of CAD files and deliverables.

  • Develop work flow/best practices for completing development tasks.

  • Create custom civil 3d label, profile, sections and alignment styles when needed.

  • Problem solve and make recommend ideas to aid in production.

  • Participate Corporate PAL/BIM meetings and potentially be a member of the Core AEC support and technology solution team.

  • Lead best practices with teams and offices and involved in cad/project wise changes and integrations.

  • Responsible for ProjectWise setup and project data management of project deliverables, Cad standards, manage external and internal teams, find best practices.

  • Make lisp/macros, custom cad styles, to aid in production.

  • Use of excel spreadsheets for data management.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

CAD Software Experience, AutoCAD or MicroStation

Associate degree

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Drafting technology or related discipline

8 years’ experience in drafting and design of civil engineering projects

CAD Design Software Experience such as Inroads/Civil 3d/Revit/geoPack


What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Utilized as technical resource in project meetings and project design for area of specialty.

  • Researches best practices and maintains outside contact with other specialists.Acts as an internal and external point-of-contact for specialty area(s). May train others in related subject matter.

  • Prepares technical presentations, reports and analysis in area of specialty.

  • Fluent in the HNTB project management philosophy and may be responsible for project budgets, schedules and progress reporting at a task level.

  • Interacts regularly with clients at the staff level.

  • May perform technical reviews for other projects in area of specialty.

  • May be responsible for managing a project team in area of specialty and coordinating work with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate of Science or Technical School

  • 10 years related experience

  • In lieu of education, 12 years related experience
