HNTB Supervisory CAD Technician in Los Angeles, California

What We're Looking For

It's time to join the quickly growing Los Angeles Office! The office is looking to apply senior-level experience in setting up, managing, and delivering projects throughout Southern California.

Work with a dynamic team of engineers, planners and architects delivering airside, terminal, utility, and landside improvements for airports throughout the southwest. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s Aviation clients.

This position performs work similar to Technicians with primary emphasis on people management. Coordinates the work activities of a group of technicians of various levels to ensure that schedules and quality of work are maintained. Works with professional staff in scheduling work and assigning support staff to their projects. Responsible for the training and development of staff. Also responsible for resolving technical design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work and detailed checking of design computations done by others.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops non-routine and complex plans, specifications, and reports.

  • Develops and implements operations procedures, methods and work systems to ensure effective and efficient internal operations.

  • Incorporates and compiles multiple sub-plans/designs into consolidated master plan.

  • Coordinates assignments with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

  • Has substantial interaction/coordination with clients and sub-contractors.

  • Responsible for the promotion, discipline, performance review, work allocation, training/continued education and mentoring of staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate of Science or Technical School

  • 12 years related experience

  • 4 years supervisory or leadership experience

  • In lieu education, 14 years related experience

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Utilized as technical resource in project meetings and project design

  • Researches and sets up CAD standards and projects per client requirements.

  • Can work in 3D models and use those models to produce final 2D plans.

  • Interacts regularly with engineers and architects, checking and managing their CAD work to conform to CAD standards.

  • May perform reviews for other projects to ensure they conform to the client CAD standards

  • May be responsible for managing a project team in area of specialty and coordinating work with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Drafting technology or related discipline

  • 10 years related experience

  • In lieu of education, 12 years related Experience

The approximate pay range for California is $108,938.16 - $193,625.53. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
