HNTB Software Testing Engineer in Louisville, Kentucky
What We're Looking For
HNTB provides advisory services to the States of Indiana and Kentucky with the goal of improving toll operations on the Ohio River Bridges. We are seeking to add a Software Testing Engineer to our team. The engineer will support the States in a major effort to design, implement and operate a new system to manage toll collections.
Candidates are not required to have tolling experience.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Develop effective testing strategies and test plans, determining testing scope and approach for project by identifying project scope, schedules, milestones, and critical paths
Oversee and address critical issues, dependencies, and risks related to testing
Manage the review and validation of testable business processes, test data, and test environment requirements
Oversee test cases (manual or automated) and analyze/report results
Document testing phases and defects and report bugs and errors to development teams
Facilitate troubleshooting for identified issues
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
Manage, maintain and update the automated Test Manager issue tracking and document distribution tools, and develop, communicate revised/new requirements
Review technical specifications, user manuals and software release notes, create test plans from them and present test plans for review and sign off
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
5 years experience related to financial systems such as ERP financial modules, Oracle Billing and Revenue Management, etc.
Able to work independently, self-directed and solutions-oriented.
Effective communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Willingness to acquire knowledge on new technologies to solve quality problems.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Sound organizational and planning skills with a solid attention to detail.
What You'll Need
Designs manual tests of complex projects to include test plan creation and execution that aligns with requirements. Executes test plans to verify software compliance with accepted functional and technical designs. Manages projects to completion and provides the results of quality analysis in reports.
Coordinates day-to-day testing and activities of test efforts in all phases of the software development lifecycle including test plan creation and execution. Assists in the preparation of project audits.
Monitors and enforces test team record keeping, including defect tracking and internal status reporting. Assists with and articulates testing processes to Level I and II QA analysts. Creates, tracks and reports on metrics.
Facilitates testing status within IT as needed and UAT status to business users when appropriate. Prioritizes and reviews status of defects and planned releases.
Coordinates UAT testing and ensures all issues are communicated in a timely manner. Records identified defects. Communicates when the defect will be resolved and/or deferred.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree
5 years QA testing experience
In lieu of education, 9 years QA experience
