This opportunity entails being responsible for leading a professional or technical discipline group in the design, development and delivery of project tasks while managing scope, budget, and quality control. This position coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the proper resources at the appropriate time. Responsible for technical coaching and mentoring and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service. The Group Director for A/E Services will be responsible for leading at least 10 , but typically 15 or more, direct and indirect reports.
What You'll Do:
Directs and supervises a professional or technical location and market specific (Sports, Aviation, Transit, etc.) team.
Supports Managing Principals with implementation of practice-wide initiatives in their location across all markets.
Coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs.
Develops and monitors the group’s operating budget in support of practice goals.
Manages the growth and professional development of department resources.
Recruits, hires, develops, and retains staff including performance and compensation reviews and succession planning.
Partners with or acts as Project Manager to ensure 4for4 delivery on every project – quality work, on time, on schedule, and to the client’s satisfaction.
Assists with marketing activities including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews and W2W.
Collaborates with local office leadership on work sharing and office wide initiatives.
Supports the implementation of the firms processes throughout the project lifecycle such as the Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach, Sophisticated Delivery Approach and Sophisticated Approach to People.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related field and 15 years of relevant experience
What You'll Bring:
Experience working with and leading a multi-disciplinary team of architects and engineers preparing plans and specifications, controlling cost, adhering to project schedules, maintaining quality and providing customer satisfaction.
Experience working on large infrastructure projects including aviation and transit projects.
Experience creating detailed project proposals, scopes of work and fee estimates.
Success in business development activities including in preparation of written proposals and participation in oral presentations.
Demonstrated leadership skills
Strong organizational abilities
Ability to successfully manage client relationships and deliver projects
Willingness to mentor and develop others
What We Prefer:
Master’s degree
Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
