This opportunity entails working with public agencies and private individuals to identify, negotiate, and purchase private property for public use or private projects. This position will perform various real estate appraisal or land acquisition functions including plat review, real estate appraisal review, real estate negotiation, legal document review and/or preparation, and oversight of real estate acquisition activities.

A high level of collaboration with staff preparing roadway design plans, plats, and utility coordinators is expected and imperative to the success of this position.

What You’ll Do:

  • Writes appraisal reports, including the development of market analysis, highest and best use analysis, value analysis, and other conclusions essential to an appraisal of real property consistent with USPAP and State and Federal laws.

  • Completes review appraisals.

  • Meets with property owners to discuss the proposed acquisitions and explain the appraisal and acquisition process for right of way projects. Negotiates offering price for property.

  • Works with design engineers and staff, review right of way plats, and interprets construction plans. Provides (at minimum) weekly updates to land acquisition manager for projects.

  • Manages the appraisal process for various projects, performing QA/QC and being responsible for project schedule within the appraising discipline.

  • Coordinates technical aspects of a project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Associate's degree and 9 years of related experience (DOT, transit, or Utilities) or equivalent experience, or

  • In lieu of degree, 11 years of relevant experience

What We Prefer:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • MAI, SRA, SR/WA, or other designations through an appraisal or right of way association
