This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting in the inspection of arterial and local bridges in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Assisting the Team Leader in estimating quantities, reviewing and updating NYSDOT inventory, and writing inspection reports in the NYSDOT EAM software. You will be working at heights in various piece s of access equipment, including a bucket truck, manlifts and/or UB60s. You will be working in lane closures provided by a vendor specializing in this type of work. You will be driving a 30' Bucket Van. You will need a driver's license and vehicle as you will need to report to our filed office in Levittown each day. BS in Civil Engineering required. NHI Condition Inspection of in-service bridges certification and OSHA 30 preferred.

What You'll Do:

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.

  • Supports the preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.

  • Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.

  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.

  • Supports engineering teams with various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

What You'll Bring:

  • Exhibits an understanding of engineering principles relevant to the discipline.

  • Attains knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCad or other software.

What We Prefer:

  • NHI - #130055 -Safety Inspection for In-service Bridges

  • NHI -#130078 - Bridge Inspection Techniques for NSTM's

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

  • Knowledgeable in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD

  • OSHA-30

  • ANSI 92.24 certification for using bucket truck, UB60 and manlift.

  • Knowledge of NYSDOT EAM inspection software

  • Knowledge of the FHWA Condition State Rating System.

The approximate pay range for New York is $64,787.11 - $121,475.85. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
