HNTB Project Manager - Aviation in New York, New York

What We're Looking For

In October 2018, the New York Governor announced a historic plan to redevelop and transform John F. Kennedy International Airport into a modern 21st century airport. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is implementing this redevelopment program. The JFK Redevelopment Program is currently seeking a motivated and experienced individual to coordinate the design and construction activities for the Terminal 4 Development. The Project Manager, Aviation, will be part of the program management team under HNTB Corporation and act as the point of contact for Airside, Landside, and Utilities for the Terminal 4 Development under the JFK Airport Redevelopment Program. The position reports to the Program Managers for Terminal 4 development which is within the purview of Aviation Redevelopment - New York and the Program Director of JFK Redevelopment at the Port Authority.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Oversight of procurement, design, and construction process by Terminal Developers in compliance with any law, regulations, code, guidance, requirements, program, policy, Port Authority initiative.

  • Ability to drive outcomes meeting complex and aggressive scope, schedule, budget constraints for major capital programs.

  • Review and coordination of Contract document submittals.

  • Schedule and Interface coordination with Infra Projects – Roadways, Utilities, Airfield Interfaces.

  • Coordination with airport wide construction logistics teams and efforts.

  • Coordination with Construction oversight teams and efforts for project delivery.

  • Tracking, monitoring, and reporting on project delivery, progress, and interdependencies.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Architecture / Engineering background with minimum 4 years Project Management experience

  • BIM/CAD abilities

  • Ability to use program information management systems and financial systems

  • Strong Communications skills

  • Ability to use Excel and Power Point

  • Aviation experience: Knowledge of terminal design, construction, and operations

  • Experience with phased construction in operating airport environment

  • Understanding of airport terminal passenger flows, processing, and Level of Service

  • PANYNJ experience. Familiarity of PANYNJ organization and procedures

  • Experience working with key PA divisions including QAD, APD and EADD

  • RA or PE

Position located onsite at JFK Airport in Queens, NY

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specification and plan preparation to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.

  • Actively manages project scope, schedule and budget. Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.

  • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.

  • Develops project scope and fee quotation, and assists in the preparation of proposals and contracts.

  • Coordinates work efforts and reviews of work performed by project team. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.

  • Oversees project staffing with departments, offices and divisions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant degree

  • 8 years relevant experience

  • In lieu of education, 12 years relevant experience
