The time is right to join HNTB! We are currently seeking a Resident Architect at our New York, New York office.
Responsible for coordinating between Contractor and Architect in the timely resolution of technical field issues. Coordinates with architects and engineers for timely and accurate responses to requests for information. Provides technical leadership for moderately complex assignments. Accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to his/her discipline field.
Reviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications. Develops strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.
Provides direction to staff in the maintenance and distribution of current contract plans and specifications. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Monitors activities of assigned staff for conformance with HNTB’s contractual requirements. Coordinates with surveying, testing and inspection staff.
Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Provides cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.
Reviews drawings, specifications and installation of constructability. May recommend changes to design. Analyzes more complex construction/design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures and consults with design engineering personnel.
Reads and interprets contract documents (plans, specs, shop drawings). Collects data to brief client on project issues and provides possible resolutions. Prepares summary inspection reports of daily activities.
Confirms merit of change order requests. Develops estimates, negotiates costs and writes change orders.
Confirms contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payment to the contractor.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
7 years related experience
Proforma and/or MS Project
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Science
General Work Conditions
Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
