The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB Corporation is currently seeking an Traffic Engineer II in our Parsippany/Newark NJ office.
Assists assigned department by performing engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery on assigned project(s).
Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.
Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Perform engineering analysis and prepare engineering reports in support of traffic operations, safety, signal retiming, adaptive signal control, corridor planning, feasibility studies, traffic forecasts, and traffic impact analyses.
Provide leadership and mentor junior staff
Develop traffic data collection program and lead project-related field work.
Perform operational, safety and other design calculations.
Provide oversight on traffic engineering related tasks
Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments.
Experience working with clients such as NYCDOT, Port Authority NY/NJ NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority, NJ Transit
Traffic engineering software experience (Aimsun, Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM)
Cost control on projects and quality control within discipline
Experience on NJ/NYDOT traffic operations and safety work
Strong writing skills, including experience in writing technical reports
Proficiency in MS Office products - Word, Excel and Power Point
Experience with the following considered a plus:
Signal design, adaptive signal system design, highway signing & marking, and other related traffic design work.
Design software experience is (AutoCAD, MicroStation)
NY/NJDOT Crash Analysis application tools experience
Highway Safety Manual application experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
2 years relevant experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2-5 years of experience
Port Authority of NY/NJ, New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and NJ Transit Planning experience preferred
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and PTOE in New Jersey and/or New York or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
Highway and/or Rail Station project experience a plus
General Work Conditions
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
