HNTB Part-time Principal Engineer in Oakland, California

What We're Looking For

Provides senior-level technical expertise to assigned large and complex bridge projects in the Bay Area. Provides independent technical review of selected projects. Provides significant breadth and depth of technical experience in a specific area. Provides technical interface with clients. Provides technical mentorship to staff.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • This part-time position provides high-senior level technical expertise for complex structural bridge design through PA/ED, PS&E and/or Construction phases

  • Provides technical assistance, leadership, mentoring, and support for management and staff

  • Interface with clients on providing expertise and guidance for technical issues

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • PE in California

  • 16+ years in relevant experience

  • Strong verbal and oral communication through presentations and written articles or reports.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical guidance as requested on complex or unusual engineering projects. Provides direction to resolve technical issues.

  • Represents the firm at technical conferences and on technical committees.

  • Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.

  • Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel on technical issues.

  • Provides technical assistance, leadership, mentoring, and support to senior-level management and staff. Provides independent technical review, makes recommendations as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 16 years relevant experience
