HNTB Transportation Planner in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

What We're Looking For

Responsible for assisting in the production and modification of traffic analysis, technical reports and plans for assigned projects. This position performs research, development of traffic and safety models, calculations and delivery in partnership with the project team. Applies traffic engineering/planning techniques, procedures and criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge and experience to assist in the execution and evaluation of traffic engineering/planning. Develops conceptual and detailed traffic engineering and safety analysis to support the project execution using current technical tools, programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Utilization of transportation planning software such as HCS, Synchro and VISSIM

  • Application of the Highway Safety Manual (HSM) techniques

  • Communication of transportation planning results through documentation and oral communication

  • Use of multi-modal planning skills including freight

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.

  • Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios and perform project analysis.

  • Investigates and evaluates the planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.

  • Coordinates internally and externally with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.

  • Prepares maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.

  • Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning.

  • Assists in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects.

  • Drafts sections of and performs tasks related to the preparation and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.

  • May participate in public process and stakeholder facilitation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering or related field and 2 years of relevant experience

  • Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering or related field and 1 year of relevant experience
