HNTB Deputy Construction Manager in Ontario, California
What We're Looking For
Serve as the Deputy Construction Manager on a $670M highway project and work with Construction Manager, Technical Leads, and project inspectors to ensure the project is constructed per approved plans and specifications. The Deputy Construction Manager will oversee, direct, and coordinate the construction work for the delivery of the project.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Responsible for coordinating between Contractor and local agencies in the timely resolution of technical field issues.
Review submittals for conformance to project contract and technical provisions. Develop strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.
Confirm merit of change order request, develop estimates, negotiate costs and write change orders.
Coordinate with material testing and Quality Assurance inspection staff.
Coordinate with Designers and Contractors for timely and accurate responses to requests for information.
Work directly with client on project efforts.
Provide cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of project team work.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Direct experience in managing staff.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management plus 8 years’ experience in project/construction management.
Must have experience working on large Caltrans projects, preferably experience on Design Build projects.
What You'll Need
Responsible for gross revenue of <$1M.
Responsible for coordinating between Contractor and Architect in the timely resolution of technical field issues. Coordinates with Architects and Engineers for timely and accurate responses to requests for information.

Coordinates with surveying, testing and inspection staff.
Oversees staff in the maintenance and distribution of current contract plans and specifications.
Confirms contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payment to the Contractor.
Accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to his/her discipline field.
Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness of accuracy of design effort.
Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts.
Provides cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.
Ensures completeness and accuracy of design team work.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
8 years project/construction management experience
In lieu of education, Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
