HNTB Principal Engineer - Structures in Parsippany, New Jersey

What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB as a Principal Engineer of Bridges and Structures for our New Jersey offices.

The ideal candidate is fully capable of providing technical expertise on large and complex projects. The position would also include independent high-level technical review of select projects and the candidate must have a significant breadth and depth of technical experience in areas of transportation-related structural engineering. The candidate will be required to interface with clients on technical matters and provide mentorship to HNTB staff. The candidate will also be required to represent the New Jersey Office on HNTB Northeast Division and National Bridge Practice initiatives.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the following:

  • Provides technical guidance as requested on complex or unusual engineering projects.

  • Provides direction to resolve technical issues.

  • Provides technical assistance, leadership, mentoring, and support for HNTB management and staff.

  • Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel on technical issues.

  • Represents the New Jersey Office on HNTB Northeast Division and National Bridge Practice initiatives.

  • Represents the firm and delivers presentations at technical conferences.

  • Represents the firm on technical committees.

  • Provides independent technical review, makes recommendations as requested.

  • Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • New Jersey PE (or ability to obtain within six months)

  • 16 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • New Jersey Turnpike Authority, NJDOT, New Jersey Transit and PANY&NJ design experience
