What We're Looking For
Responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position works closely with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge, experience and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. May mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Responsible for completion of discipline engineering project elements such as reports, designs, specifications, calculations, and plans.
Work independently to complete mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and industrial designs with minimal direction.
Coordinate preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas
Conduct design review of plans, specifications, and calculations.
Conduct reviews and make recommendations of approval of potential construction change orders and shop drawings.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Perform quality reviews of project team work and deliverables.
Coordinate and works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Responsible for production of deliverables meeting 4 for 4 (quality product, on-time, on budget, and to the client's satisfaction).
Performing site visits.
Attending client meetings.
Assisting Senior Project Engineer in scoping, budgeting and staffing of projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
5 Years relevant experience
Engineer in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
Experience using AutoCAD
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection experience in transportation including highway, railway, and airports.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
Experience using Revit/BIM 360 Software
Experience using MicroStation
Experience using Load Calculation Software, such as HAP, Elite HVAC, Trane Trace, IES
Experience in Building Code Analysis
Knowledge of Psychometrics
What You'll Need

Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.
Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.
Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.
Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience
PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience

Understands and is able to coordinate interdisciplinary efforts.
Independently progresses the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
Exhibits experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and MicroStation and/or AutoCad.
Exhibits a thorough understanding of the application related to engineering, geometric and algebraic principles.
Manages time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.
