HNTB Environmental Planning Intern - Summer 2022 in Plano, Texas

What We're Looking For

Our Plano, TX office is seeking an Environmental Planning Intern for Summer 2022.

Relocation and housing are not provided for this position.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Perform environmental analysis for infrastructure projects

  • Assist with onsite environmental investigation including field reconnaissance, photography, verification of land uses, delineation of water resources, biological surveys

  • Collect and organize data and results for reports and presentations

  • Assist with exhibit preparation and GIS mapping

  • Assist with research, development and documentation of projects

  • Assist with analysis of environmental impacts as assigned

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Two years completion of post-secondary degree program

  • Pursuing a major in and/or coursework experience in natural resources sciences, environmental planning/studies/sciences, land development planning, or civil engineering with a focus on or interest in environmental and/or transportation planning

  • Awareness or general understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)

  • Previous internship experience

  • Works well in a team setting

  • Problem solving and analytical skills

  • Document writing and editing skills

  • GIS mapping and web research skills

  • Familiarity using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists project team members with various support tasks.

  • Conducts basic research and data collection.

  • Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.

  • Assist in the development of presentation materials and reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School/GED or equivalent

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary degree program.
