Job Summary

Responsible for overall field contract management, administration and coordination on mid to large size projects of a diverse and complex nature. Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating construction engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems which significantly affect major corporate programs. Responsible for monitoring assigned staff to determine that the contractor's activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. On-site liaison between Client, Company Personnel and Contractor I in resolution of project issues. Act as a specialist in the application of advanced concepts, principles, techniques and procedures for an assigned area of responsibility. Analyze complex construction/design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures and consults with design engineering personnel. Represents projects at meetings and conferences.

Essential Responsibility

  • Reviews and drafts responses to Contractor's correspondence as required.Implements on site procedures to assist staff in performing their work.

  • Collects data to brief Client on project issues and provides possible resolutions.

  • Reads and interprets plans.

  • Monitors Contractor progress and compares with reviewed Progress Schedule.

  • Mentors and trains staff.

  • Administers JPI's and Budget.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Review and approval of invoices, including subconsultants.

  • Reads and interprets specifications

  • Contractor's reports and correspondence to be reviewed and responded to will include: letters, RFI's, submittals, claims and change notices.

  • Responsible for the hiring, supervision, development, evaluation, and termination of staff members, as well as establishing and approving budgets for the group. This position may also include management of subconsultant staff.

Basic Qualification

15 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualification/Skills

  • 15 years of relevant experience. 8 years must be field inspection experience. 6 years of supervisory experience is required.

  • Connecticut Professional Engineer License is required.

  • Individual must have considerable knowledge of highway, bridge, rail or facilities construction practices and procedures.


General Work Conditions

Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
