This opportunity entails being responsible for daily inspection efforts on multiple complex, large, and /or diverse projects. Prepares daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractor and reviews periodical pay estimates with contractor for accuracy. Prepares sketches and assembles data for Field Engineer to utilize when making changes to the project. May participate in the mentoring, development, and evaluation of staff inspectors.
What You'll Do:
Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract. Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.
Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.
Reviews Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches
May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 9 years of construction related experience.
All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Construction inspection for the Williamson County Road Bond Program.
Perform as single point of contact for all project related issues
Observe and document work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with the plans and specifications.
Prepare daily work reports and photo documentation.
Review and process monthly pay applications.
Prepare contract change orders.
Gather field data and prepare response to request for information (RFI) from the contractor
Verify contractor’s compliance with approved Traffic Control Plan
Perform Barricade inspection and generate reports
Perform SW3P inspections and generate reports
Verify Material on Hand and track monthly usage
Coordinate materials testing in accordance with TxDOT Guideline for Sampling and Testing
Coordinate with construction contractors, design engineers, and County staff as needed.
Perform constructability review and provide comments to design engineers
Perform quantity take offs and review engineer’s estimate
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Experience with TxDOT Standard Specifications, Standard Plans, Construction Contract Administration Manual, TxDOT QAP, TxDOT Guide Schedule of Sampling and Testing, and TxDOT Construction forms
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Bluebeam, SiteManager, Headlight or other construction documentation software)
