HNTB Roadway Project Engineer in St. Louis, Missouri

What We're Looking For

HNTB is seeking a Roadway Project Engineer in our St. Louis, MO office. This position serves as a roadway design task lead for complex infrastructure projects and is responsible for project execution and delivery within scope, budget, and schedule from initial start-up through project closeout. They will coordinate the efforts of an assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. The Project Engineer is also expected to serve as technical liaison with the client on project efforts.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Responsible for production of roadway, pavement marking plans, traffic control, quantities, cost estimates, construction administration and final specifications.

  • Provide coordination of project execution and control on roadway design projects to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through final design.

  • Accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects.

  • Coordinate efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort.

  • Serve as technical liaison with client on project efforts.

  • Responsible for coordinating with and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • PE

  • MicroStation, Geopak SS4 or OpenRoads experience

  • Roadway/civil design experience on MoDOT projects

  • Experience in design and plan production for interstate, interchange, and major arterial roadways.


What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.

  • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Guides team to overall project objectives.

  • Serves as technical liaison with client at staff level for work within the discipline.

  • Assists with project management duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 6 years relevant experience
