Senior Inspector in Sterling Heights, Michigan

What We're Looking For

Lead inspector on major highway improvement projects in southeast Michigan

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Inspects, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.

  • Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract. Reviews and resolves construction issues and quantity disputes with contractor.

  • Reviews Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.

  • May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • MCA/ACI Level I Concrete Certification

  • MDOT Density Certification

  • MDOT HMA Paving Operations Certification

  • MDOT Concrete Paving Inspection Certification

  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level IV.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.

  • Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract. Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.

  • Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.

  • Reviews Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.

  • Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches

  • May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.

  • 9 years construction related experience.

  • All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
