Job Summary

Provides geospatial technology services to HNTB clients by providing support for problems of moderate scope and complexity, developing, configuring, testing, implementing and maintaining geospatial systems. Works on projects and requires skills in one or more geospatial technologies. Performs multiple concurrent assignments and may lead a small project of limited scope.

Essential Responsibility

  • Develops or customizes system configurations of moderately complex geospatial applications based on geospatial knowledge, the project requirements and an understanding of client needs.

  • Assists the client in determining survey and mapping needs and the most effective collection methods and technologies to meet those needs. Meets with client and technology staff to define and document system requirements. Develops system configuration specifications, conceptual and logical workflow and business process diagrams for system development or customization.

  • Creates and executes moderately complex system implementations according to established timeline, budget and quality expectations.

  • May lead small projects of limited scope and complexity.

  • Serves as a technical resource in the application of one or more geospatial platform technologies, such as Esri, Bentley, Autodesk, and Certainty 3D. Provides user support and solves moderately complex technical problems with geospatial systems.

  • Codes, tests, debugs and configures solutions at a moderate difficulty level. May perform peer reviews on work performed by junior staff. Thoroughly documents and tests all work produced.

  • Continually evaluates work processes and contributes to technology, methodology and process standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, tests, refines and maintains customized Interactive Web GIS applications.

  • Meets with clients to define project requirements, analyzes requirements and develops detailed design specifications, codes, tests, debugs and deploys web GIS applications.

  • Creates and solves moderately complex technical problems with geospatial systems.

  • Designs and creates geodatabases, performs ETL tasks, performs advanced geospatial analyses, creates executive report-quality maps and geospatial products.

  • Provides input to the business development process, such as defining proposed milestones, estimating work, documenting understanding of need and process to fulfill need.

  • Performs multiple concurrent assignments.

  • Continually evaluates work processes and contributes to technology, methodology and process standards.

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Geography or other related degree

2 years related experience

In lieu of education, 6 years related experience

Preferred Qualification/Skills

  • GISP certification

  • 3+ years of ESRI JavaScript API / HTML5 experience

  • 3+ years of experience creating customized web mapping applications using Templates and Web App Builder

  • 2+ years of experience publishing feature/web services to ArcGIS Online

  • 2 years of Esri ArcSDE/ SQL server geodatabase experience

  • Expert knowledge of geospatial processes and mapping concepts such as Spatial Reference systems and transformations.

  • 2 years of experience with PL/SQL, T-SQL, SQL

  • Portal for ArcGIS

  • Dynamic Segmentation and Linear Referencing

  • Proficiency with Python Scripting and Model Builder

  • Collector for ArcGIS, Survey 123, GIS solutions for crowd sourcing information

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
