HNTB Software Developer II in Tallahassee, Florida

What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking an Software Developer II for our Tallahassee, FL office.

Provides technology services to HNTB clients by providing support for problems of moderate scope and complexity, designing, developing, configuring, testing, implementing and maintaining software and/or web applications and systems. Works on projects and requires skill in multiple technical environments. Performs multiple concurrent assignments and may lead a small project of limited scope.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Meets with business and technology staff to understand and document system needs and requirements

  • Designs, develops, and tests complex new applications using advanced programming tools and languages, based on project requirements

  • Creates and review technical documentation

  • Codes, tests, debugs, and deploys applications

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience building, testing, deploying and supporting C#/.Net applications in Windows environments

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, and associated services such as SSIS and SSRS

  • Experience developing dashboards and other reporting systems

  • Familiarity with internet standards such as HTTP, SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, SSL, SMTP, FTP, TCP/IP

  • Familiarity with and ability to create and review technical documentation, including Concept of Operations, Requirements, Specifications, Test Plans, Test Cases, User Manuals, and Release Notes

  • Strong analytic skills, preferably with exposure to tools in Python and/or R environments


What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops moderately complex new applications based on the project requirements document and an understanding of client needs.

  • May lead small projects of limited scope and complexity.

  • Designs user interfaces for web-based applications based on an understanding of data use and client need.

  • Provides user support and solves moderately complex technical problems with legacy applications or systems.

  • Meets with business and technology staff to understand and document system requirements.

  • Thoroughly documents and tests all work produced.

  • Develops programming specifications, logic flow charts and process diagrams.

  • Codes, tests, debugs and refines programs on multiple applications at a moderate difficulty level. May review work performed by junior staff.

  • Continually evaluates work processes and contributes to technology, methodology and process standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related degree

  • 2 years related experience

  • In lieu of education, 6 years related experience
