What We're Looking For
FDOT Contract Support Specialist For CEI Opportunities in the Tampa and Bartow FDOT Districts
Primary Focus Will Include:
- Performing CSS duties on Consultant CEI Assignments for the FDOT
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Road & bridge construction engineering inspection (CEI) experience having performed/assisted in project related duties (i.e., Materials Acceptance and Certification (MAC) System, progress and final estimates, EEO compliance, processing Construction Contract changes, etc.)
Should exercise independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to the office aspects of the project.
Should be familiar with the Department’s Procedures covering the project related duties as stated above and be proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform these duties.
Shall become proficient in Trimble Business Center - Heavy Construction Edition (HCE) or approved surface to surface comparison software and Engineering Menu.

What You'll Need
Performs office management engineer work when needed including but not limited to; assists change manager and project manager in contractor claims and disputes. Tracks, reviews and processed RFIs and submittals and performs constructability reviews.
Inspects, monitors, and oversees construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Administers KPIs and budget, reads and interprets complex contract documents to ensure compliance.
Performs or oversees on-site material testing.
Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities).
Responsible for tracking of item quantities and preparing pay estimates and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications and identifies discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
Reviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency. Prepares weekly progress reports.
Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees. Monitors internal HNTB project controls as directed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associates degree in relevant field and 8 years relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field and 6 years relevant experience.
