HNTB Senior ITS Project Engineer in Tampa, Florida

What We're Looking For

Provides coordination of project execution and control to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Responsible for gross revenue of $1-$2M.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Responsible leading systems engineering for ITS projects. Leads development of PSEMP, ConOps, RTVM and other system engineering documents for various projects.

  • Review RFP documents to develop project requirement matrix and ensure compliant technical proposals.

  • Develop ITS design plans, planning documents, specifications, RFPs, request for the clients.

  • Assist in providing technical direction to the scope of projects; provides technical expertise on ITS projects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contracts for construction.

  • Working with the client directly and support growth of ITS practice in the region

  • Working with junior staff and supervising their daily activity

  • Working with local agencies on arterial management and emerging technology projects

  • Proficient with ITS communications and power/electrical design

  • Serve as Engineer of Record for ITS component of Final Design projects

  • Develops project design criteria, design calculations, construction details, quantities and cost estimates.

  • Prepares and checks design drawings, specifications, technical reports and design documentation as applicable.

  • Coordinate and perform ITS field reviews, data collection and analysis in support of other tasks.

  • Develop test plans and procedures for various ITS components.

  • Develop program level TSM&O Plans – strategic plans, action plans, needs plans.

  • Some experience with field devices from freeway and arterial management

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering

  • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives.

  • Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline.

  • Assists with project management duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 10 years relevant experience
