HNTB Senior Inspector in Washington, District Of Columbia

What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB! We are seeking a Senior Inspector in our Washington, D.C. office.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Inspection, monitoring, and reporting of construction activities for the District Department of Transportation (DDOT)

  • Coordinating daily activity schedule with construction contractors and the construction management team

  • Identifying and resolving construction problems/issues and resolving them in collaboration with the contractor and construction manager

  • Measuring and reporting quantities for payment

  • Mentoring and training junior inspection staff

  • Writing daily inspection reports

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • 10 years of relevant construction inspection experience

  • Experience working on DDOT construction projects

  • Current working knowledge of DDOT specifications and construction management practices

  • Work Zone/Traffic Control certification, such as Virginia Intermediate Work Zone TCT (ATSSA) or Maryland State Highway Administration Traffic Manager (MTBMA)

  • NICET Level III

  • Ability to perform on-site materials testing related to assigned duties

  • Basic computer knowledge and skills

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Monitor work of Contractor against Project Schedule.

  • Review and Resolve quantity disputes with contractor.

  • Read and Comprehend contract documents (i.e. plans, specifications, shop drawings).

  • Keep Inspector's Daily Report of assigned work activities.

  • Produce As-Constructed sketches as required.

  • Perform and or observe on-site material testing.

  • Perform sophisticated, complicated mathematical calculations.

  • Perform measurements of completed work to date.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent

  • 5 years construction related experience

  • All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements
